In recent years during COVID-19 restrictions and forced times of isolation, God gave us all time to reflect upon the purpose of our lives and the priorities that we embrace to fulfil this purpose. One of the wonderful historical documents from our church’s heritage is the Westminster Catechism which starts by asking:
Q. 1. What is the chief end of man?
A. 1. Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever.
At St. Cuthbert’s we encourage everyone to spend time getting to know God better by reading his word everyday and setting aside time to pray. You can access excellent daily Bible Reading notes available for free online with Scripture Union at https://content.scriptureunion.org.uk/wordlive or Daily Bread Ministries at https://odb.org. These are useful resources to assist you in reading God’s word so that you can glorify him and enjoy him forever.
